Wow! That's an unbelievable tale! I'm glad you found my blog.

I can probably help you out with getting some of those rubber face if you're actually interested. If not, thanks for sharing. Such a hilarious scenario. I can't believe someone actually took your faces and burned them.

*Sigh* I almost dread relating my experiences with the "Faces of Doom" from the Musical Wind-Up Demon Lumberjack.

I was just into college in the mid-80's when these bastards came out. I'm 43 now (2010), so it has been years since I was exposed to the freakishness of the faces.

After starting college in 1984, I did a some-what typical thing some males who have been "nice and good guys" throughout the high school years...I went nutz with alcohol, ecstasy, and weed. I experimented like the world was about to end. Those creepy faces were "props" my friends and I often used to torment folks who had over indulged in the poison of choice for the evening. When you are high on mind-altering chemicals, those finger puppets are of Satan.

I was in that party scene for only 2 summers, thank God, and pulled my head out of my a** and finished my education. I would never trade those two summer's worth of weirdness for anything, though. Very good memories and good times....except a few times the faces got out of control. Most of the time I recall laughing my butt off as one of us would go into some impromptu theatrics with a face (mustache guy was my favorite) and would torment random people on campus or about town.

One guy who was especially freaked out by the faces high-jacked the whole set and burned them. I was heart broken. Since then I have been looking for them but had no recollection of what they were called. I almost yelled when I saw them on your site! I had never seen the lumberjack thing...only the faces. I plan on trying to find these rubbery devils on eBay and exacting some vengeance on the person responsible for their fiery demise. If I'm lucky, a good, hard flashback will be my reward. Thanks tons for showing them off here!

Best Regards,
-Chuckula

Does the "finger puppet" mask have four finger holes? One at forehead, one on each cheek, and one at jaw? If so, I think I may have had one as well.

The face is made with a finger puppet for sure, which were popular around those days in Chinese bargain store and flea market plastic junk.

I remeber having seen this toy at a flea market between battery-operated robots and cars as a kid. Even then I found it pretty dumb and ugly, but now I can see the beauty of it.

As strange as it is it was manufactured that way. Probably by the factory that made the finger puppet on the second line.

I was able to translate the whole site with Babelfish, but there was no real clue to what was on display in the video.

I did track down the rubber face. Now all I need to do is figure out what the lumberjack body is from.

I'm trying to decipher the language to see if it helps. The website is from the Netherlands, so I would assume it's Dutch, but it doesn't seem to translate in Babel Fish or any of the other translators I used.

It's like tracking down the Ark of the Covenant, but instead of it being the resting place of the Ten Commandments, it's a demon lumberjack with a crazy rubber face.

Holy CRAP! My grandparents have the face part-- I used to play with it all the time when I was little! It's probably still in the toy box in the front closet!
